Winnie paused outside of her door before hurrying down the hall and out the side door. Her blue eyes were narrowed and searching. She wrapped her coat more tightly around her. Her hair was lifted off her shoulders as the door slamming shut created a breeze. Her eyes darted both ways before she took off down the steps, walking quickly across campus. She stopped to catch her breath and surveyed the area around her. Jeans rubbed against her legs, one wouldn't have believed that such a ripped pair of pants had once been a pair of sleek designer jeans. She curled her toes in her sneakers. She snapped her gum, feeling the chewy sugar stick to her front teeth. She brushed her wind-blown hair back away from her face. 'Where have I gotten myself?' she asked, laughing to and at herself. She took in a deep breath. She squared her shoulders. A little ways off owas a lone bench, no one was near. There were some plants carefully planted in rows and were probably the work of a lifeless teacher. She curled her lip. With careful mincing steps she walked over to the bench and sat down. She had just needed to get out. Carefully she took her phone out of her pocket and hit a couple buttons. A million pictures popped up onto the screen. Tears pricked the back of Winnie's eyes. Here it was again. 'I did it for you, Mom.' she seemed to sag. 'Happy Birthday.'
